2Probably what is going to have to be for the padres to line up on a clev deal. Two high upside prospects about a year away from the show, and two mlb starters, Naylor can play 1st, left field, and DH. So he’s pretty Versatile with a high ceiling, just needs regular at bats.
Cleveland doesn’t need Naylor - they already have a DH masquerading as an outfielder in Reyes. They also prefer to use the DH as a rotational spot to give regulars a break from fielding. Lucchesi might be a serviceable rotation replacement, but Cleveland could also just insert Plutko, Logan Allen, or Scott Moss and get 1-2 WAR seasons from them. Campusano can hit, but so could Mejia. The Indians are incredibly picky about their catchers’ defensive abilities. Trammell has a lot of promise, but he’s too far away to make them better in 2020. I think this is the right neighborhood of overpay, but the wrong package. Maybe a third team that likes the prospect haul and has a young impact MLB outfielder could get it done.
