Your explanation is well thought out. Thanks for the comments. Cubs would have to figure out an outfield rotation with the Calhoun addition. They were looking for a centerfielder and it doesn't look like Calhoun fits that position. They also just recently picked up Souza so it's a pretty crowded outfield. Is there another pitcher that Texas could part with instead of Calhoun that would still make this a fair trade? Minor perhaps (12.7 trade value) ?

What would it take to send Kris Bryant to the Lone Star State? Not as much as you might picture. Willie Calhoun had a good-but-not-great 2019 season, hitting 21 HRs and producing a 110 WRC+ in only 83 games last season. At the age of 25, Calhoun has 5 years of team control remaining and could provide All-Star worthy seasons down the road if he is able to improve his K/BB ratio. Josh Jung: What needs to be said? The 8th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, the Texas Tech product showed flashes of potential in the minor leagues, where he hit a cool .316 across nearly 200 plate appearances. He has garnered high respect from several scouting publications (#55 overall), and is widely viewed as a top 5 3B prospect in the game. He could serve as the long-term replacement for Kris Bryant as early as 2021. Hans Crouse: Crouse flies a bit under the radar from what I have seen, despite being the Rangers #3 overall prospect. A former top 100 guy, Crouse has been a reliable arm in the minor leagues. However, the inclusion of Crouse is less of a talent acquisition than it is a need-based one. All 5 members of the Cubs' projected rotation are over the age of 30, save for emergency SP Adbert Alzolay. Names like Darvish and Lester are a) not cheap and b) not getting any younger, so why would Epstein and Hoyer balk at the chance to trade for a high-upside arm sooner rather than later? Almora is a guy that the Cubs had previously explored moving, and his reliable glove and speed could allow for Danny Santana to move back to 1B. Ronald Guzman is an expendable piece for the Rangers, and he would be the odd man out, so to speak. However Guzman's youth and rebound potential could make him a low-cost asset for any retooling/rebuilding team.
