2This is based on a Bleacher Report article, so the probability of this trade happening is probably next to nil. But this move surprisingly makes some sense. Angels need pitching and want to dump salary, Giants eat salary like nothing and could take on the entirety of Cueto's contract just to get better prospects. The Halos have a pretty top-heavy farm, so I tried to the pu pu platter approach. Adams is the only prospect mentioned in the original article, so I added him. Calabrese and Deveaux are pretty much the same player type: mediocre power (and in Deveaux's case a minus hit tool as well) who all have legit 70-grade speed. MLB has Adams and Deveaux pegged at an 80 run tool and Calabrese at 75. The reason the Angels do this is simple: get pitching and clear space for Brandon Marsh. The outfield of the future is Marsh, Trout, and Adell; they won't miss any of the guys they're trading. They can probably sign Pederson as a stopgap if one of the two prospects needs more time. They clear $13 million in this trade and could clear even more IRL depending on how much the Giants eat. I think this is fair, lemme know what you guys think.
I agree with you that this trade is improbable but I like your reasoning and the minor league players you included. Good job.
