4The Cubs really could get some excellent trade acquisitions if they acted like a big market club and paid down the contracts of outgoing players.
Bryant is not going to play any 3b for SD (Machado). So he replaces Myers @ LF ? Do Not believe SD pays 18m for a weak return considering Yu D.was top 5 CYA.
I got hypnotized reading your explanation. No offense, but... "Don't believe SD pays 18m for a weak return" kinda contradicts "Yu Darvish was top 5 in Cy voting"...

Could argue that swapping Bryant out for Caratini might help fill a bigger need for the Padres, but I don't know if it is possible for the Cubs to take on Myers contract and pay down Yu's salary.
