Now I know this one will get a lot of dislikes, and perhaps rightfully so. It doesn't exactly seem to be the prospect-based return the Indians want. However, they are getting a good left handed OF in Winker and a mid level prospect in Siani. Santillan is MLB ready and was the Reds #4 prospect in 2019. Cleveland is getting a OF with MLB experience with Winker and an MLB ready pitcher in Santillan plus Siani. The fact is, Lindor's trade worth has diminished by holding him for so long. Teams are trading for one year of him and thus Cleveland may not get the type of return they would have last season. While I don't see Cleveland signing onto this deal, I think it is interesting to consider at least. Now that you've read my defense, go ahead and hit that dislike button like I know you want to!

The Indians would pass on this deal. Winker may play in the outfield in Cincinnati, but, he's no outfielder. He's more suited as a DH. The Tribe has that spot covered. Mike Siani is a very interesting prospect.. and would be considered a good addition as you've presented this. Tony Santillan was on his way to becoming a member of the Reds starting staff late in the 2019 season.. I recall suggesting trades with Cincinnati that included Santillan, prominently.. But.. then.. IDK what happened. He wasn't able to throw strikes.. he wasn't able to throw hard.. he wasn't a lot of things.. and wasn't even considered for the Reds down the stretch.. Right now.. the best suggestion for him is to stay where he's at.. and regenerate his value by doing what he did before 2019... A better deal could be cobbled together between the Indians and Reds..

Just a quick response as to what happened to Santillan. From what I've read, the Reds' new pitching coach destroyed him. They had him make severe adjustments to his delivery, resulting in control issues and increased health issues for a guy that already struggled staying healthy. If they feel he can adjust to the new pitching philosophy, he'll be an interesting guy to watch as he has the tools to be an effective reliever. However, I see him as a change of scenery candidate, preferably to a club with the Reds' old pitching philosophy or at least one that allows pitchers to pitch however they feel comfortable.

Reds turn this down. They are not competing this year, and do not want Lindors Salary. Besides, Story is better (IMHO)
