Agree with your analysis..and would vote affirmatively for this deal.. The Indians are reloading and have an excellent addition to the Brewers with a 3B, Jose Ramirez. The deal as presented has three very good "top" prospects and Urias. But, let's start with Urias: He is really a 2B/SS. and was moved to 3B to accomodate Arcia.. definitely the right move. For the Indians, the need for a middle infielder would make him superfluous. If he were to be removed, the 26.3 overage in the deal could be evened out by including: Hedbert Perez (8.3).. this is the kind of prospect that flourishes in the Indians system and plays a position of severe need. Josh Hader (15.5).. Hader is significantly undervalued by the system presented here, but, one helluva relief pitcher/closer. With the addition of these two guys, even with the imbalance being in the Brewers favor, already, I wouldn't be surprised if the IRL deal would see a mid tier prospect like Sam Hentges (3.9) or LHSP Logan Allen (2.8) to the deal. The top three guys, Feliciano, Mitchel and Turang are all needed and wanted. Good trade suggestion.. Thoughts?

I don't think the Indians want Hader and his salary. If they trade Ramirez, they are not looking for a closer. What about adding Ethan Small and/or Antoine Kelly? Small is nearly ready as a LHSP and Antoine Kelly is quickly rising through the Brewers system as an elite arm that is learning quickly how to pitch. I would be fine taking Urias back. He could be the backup IF at SS, 2B and 3B. Shoot, I would even throw in a PTBNL so that the Indians can see how their favorite prospect develops this year.

Small is what is commonly referred as a soft tossing lefty with command and control as his weapon. He's the kind of pitcher that can get young aggressive hitters to chase his average/above average stuff.. It's when he faces ML level and near ML level hitters who won't chase his fading change and will TEE OFF on his mediocre FB.. Antoine Kelly, on the other hand.. has a strong foundation & chance to become a back of the rotation starter as his ceiling, but, presents as a STRONG LHRP with an upper 90's FB and same tunnel slider. He'd be okay as a prospect.. To respond to your "indians don't want hader salary"... absolutely correct.. The CLEFO (Cleveland Front Office) has stated they intend to 'invest' some of the savings from the Lindor/Carrasco trade into the club for the 2021 and onward season. The Hader addition in the suggestion above would serve as pass through to acquire a current ML OF'er.. perhaps someone like Clint Frazier. My guess.. if a separate deal was put together where the Brewers received Clint Frazier and one of the NYY's prospect SP's (German, Gil, Medina)..and yes, this would be an overpay by the NYY's.. but that's the way it goes. With Devin Williams already in the fold for the Brewers, I don't don't believe the Brewers would miss him all that much..and would be better off with the $$ saved as it would pay for Jose Ramirez for his entire three years. Then the Brewers could pass through Frazier to the Indians take on this deal instead... or NYY's get Josh Hader (* and perhaps a minor prospect from the Indians) (a closer to create a back of the pen monster) Brewers get Jose Ramirez and Sam Hentges from the Indians ....................Luis Medina from the NYY's (a league MVP level 3B, Two SP's, a RH'er and a LH'er) Indians get one of Hedbert or Kelly, and Brice Turang, Mario Feliciano, Garrett Mitchell from the Brewers ..................Clint Frazier from the NYY's ..and the Brewers would keep Urias.. I can see the NYY fans looking at something like this.. and think they're getting short changed.. but they're really not.. Interesting discussion / proposal.. Thoughts?

Indians are re-loading. Brewers need some 3B help desperately. Indians get 3 of the Brewers top 5 prospects and Luis Urias who could play everyday at SS for the Tribe with Nolan Jones at 3B. Tribe need OF and C prospects. Garret Mitchell and Mario Feliciano could be MLB ready in 1-2 years. Brewers get MVP caliber 3B for the next 3 years to pair with Yelich, Hiura and their young dynamic arms.

As a Brewers fan, I understand who Ethan Small is. If the Indians don't like his profile, that's fine. I am very high on his future. The Brewers have had success with Brent Suter. I believe Small has better stuff than Suter, but deception and quirky deliveries are part of both of their games. I have seen so many Hader to NYY deals that I just don't think both sides can make it work right now. I understand your interest in Frazier. He profiles almost perfectly for CLE's needs. I wouldn't be opposed to letting Josh go but we also want to compete now. Losing Hader definitely weakens the bullpen, but Luis Medina is intriguing. If I understand your Yanks piece of the trade, they would trade Luis Medina and Clint Frazier for Hader...I just don't see the need for them. Yes, it may be the best bullpen ever but I think they really like Frazier, maybe as part of their OF rotation this year.

Here's a story that I relied on regarding Luis Medina: https://www.pinstripealley.com/2020/12/30/22203703/yankees-top-prospects-luis-medina-pitching-deivi-schimdt-ba-lbprc-indios-winter-ball FWiW.. Medina will always be the type of prospect that would explode, like the ball out of his hand hitting triple digits, if he figured out where the ball was going.... and he's appeared to have done that.. This guy has blue chip potential as a starter and, with this, at least a floor of HIGH leverage back of the bullpen ability.. This is why I like him..

Great discussion from both of you and I gave you a thumbs up on your comments. I initially looked at this trade from a Brewers point of view and didn't rate the trade because I thought Milwaukee maybe giving up too much future but also realizing Ramirez would be a great player that would probably make them favorites in the NL Central. After reading Robins comments in BrewCrew I became convinced that a trade like this should be offered by the Brewers. Gson gave some good insights on how the trade could possibly be adjusted. I would hope the Brewers would not trade Mitchel and substitute another player or two (maybe Peralta and Small) but knowing Cleveland will be looking for the best offer from a number of teams. the Brewers may have to make a painful decision to obtain Ramirez and a solid chance at a NL Central championship. Thank you both for your above comments. Good stuff!
