2If the Reds do not sign Didi Gregorius (SS) and the Twins plan on playing Polanco at 2B in 2021, this deal works for both teams. Reds find affordable long term infield stability, Twins find a TOR starter in Gray on a team friendly deal. Twins would need to take on the contract of Moustakas, who could either DH or take on that open 2B job.
There is also the slight chance Reds do this deal without Pineda involved....and with the $15 million not spent to sign Didi Gregorius, combined with the $20 million saved on these contracts from Gray and Moustakas traded off ($25 million combined minus roughly $5 mill for Polanco makes a $20 million difference) The Reds could parlay that $35 million extra coin to re-sign Trevor Bauer.
