2I could have seen this trade working out earlier in the offseason.If I was the Reds I would do it because I get an average starter at worst in Gonsolin. Also I get the starting shortstop I need. Along with a top 100 pitching prospect, Josiah Gray and if you recall he was in the Reds Dodgers Yasiel Puig trade.
I don't see the Dodgers ever doing this. As a Reds fan, I wouldn't mind trading Castillo for a package like this, but I don't think the Dodgers would agree. Gonsolin, Gray, and Lux are all major parts of the Dodgers of the future. They *might* be willing to part with two, but not three. They would just wait a couple years when Castillo's value drops and make a move then. If you want to work on a trade with the Reds and Dodgers, try working on one where the Dodgers can dump salary (get under the luxury tax) and the Reds get a solid SS (Seager or Lux). The Reds' low payroll should give them room to make a deal like that.
