The Braves do this trade in order to get Reynolds, who steps into the shoes of Marcell Ozuna, who presumably will be suspended for the rest of the season as soon as MLB completes its investigation. With the money they won't be paying Ozuna this year, the Braves take Polanco's contract off of Pittsburgh's hands. Stratton is a bit of a throw-in, but he might provide some help for the Braves' under-performing bullpen. For Pittsburgh, Michael Harris is the main return; he's currently playing in High-A at 20 years old, and is slashing .352/.367/.495, and he will eventually be the replacement for Reynolds by the time Pittsburgh is in a competitive window again. Shewmake is a bit riskier (he's not hitting at AA so far), but he has a good glove and high upside, and might be a good double-play partner for Ke'Bryan Hayes in a few years. De La Cruz is a near-major-league-ready starter.
