1Ignore the cash - I had to put it in so that the sim would accept the trade idea. The Blue Jays have been in talks with RichRod, but their system is quite top heavy without many 9-15TV prospects. They get a borderline elite setup man who, mind you, has two years left on his contract, for a catching prospect they don't need (what with their influx of them) and a rookie pitcher. The Pirates, as shown by their recent trades, are going for decent players with some upside who are boom/bust guys instead of mediocre prospects who are stable. Kirk is one of those good prospects who will probably flourish somewhere away from Toronto and their bevy of prospect catchers. He provides a nice second option behind Jacob Stallings and could take over, with his 60-graded hit tool. Just don't ruin him, Pittsburgh. Kloffenstein, currently in High-A, has this said about him on mlb.com: "...Kloffenstein can work in the low 90s with heavy sink on his two-seam fastball and reach back for 96 mph with his four-seamer. He has advanced feel for a breaking ball, showing the ability to morph his sharp slider, which flashes above-average potential, into a bigger-breaking curveball or a harder cutter. He also has a deceptive changeup with tumble which could be another above-average offering for him once further developed." Some of his pitches are groundball offerings, so the Pirates might emphasize, say, that two-seamer. So a quick review: Blue Jays get: RichRod Pirates get: #6 and #10 prospects in Jays org. Thoughts and comments appreciated.
