2This might be a viable trade. The Rays get starting pitching help and a useful fourth outfielder, and it may be the one destination that Morton will accept a trade to, since the Braves made him a verbal promise that they would not trade him. For the Braves, Goss is in the range of the types of prospects they will be looking for, as they need to re-stock their low minors. i realize Kiermayer is there for salary balance; the Braves would probably release him and use the roster slot to call someone up -- Drew Waters, hopefully.

I agree that it's a viable trade, but I think unlikely. Goss has too high a ceiling and looked too good in instructs to trade for a 1 year rental of Morton, even if the Rays get KK's salary relief as part of the deal. I also can't see the Braves taking on KK's almost $20M remaining salary just to release him. He's owed about $5M for 2021, $12.2M for 2022 and has a $2.5M buyout in 2023. Not just because that's a lot of money, but also because he's producing to the tune of nearly 2.0 fWAR this year (0.9 fWAR at the midway point), which is a helluva lot better than most of the Braves outfielders. The trade works for the Braves because they get both Goss and KK. Not sure it works for the Rays.
