7Jansen/Moreno to start 2022 anyone? Mariners swap 1 year of Haniger for 2 years of Gurriel, DH/C Kirk and LHP Kay (could be spot starter) Reds get RF Haniger for 1 year, back up C McGuire and two top prospects. I would probably add another arm to the Reds as well. Logue/Van Eyk (maybe even Pearson if that is what it takes) Jays get switch hitting 3B and a top end starter.
Luckily nothing I ever do is serious. But I do have to disagree. If I'm the Jays front office I am corresponding with both teams separately. I am not telling the Mariners front office what my return from the Reds is until the deal is agreed upon, I'm also not telling the Reds what I'm sending to the Mariners. What I'm doing is telling the Mariners I want Toro Haniger and Brash. This is what you get (Kirk/Gurriel/Kay). If they agree I then pitch it to reds similarly. Basically acquiring Haniger/Brash in the first place. Hey I want Mahle and you get Brash/Haniger from the Mariners and McGuire/Groshans from us. If they agree the physicals are sent. I could be totally off on my thinking here and it basically has to be done within a small timeframe but IMO its plausible? And yes there are two glaring obvious problems with this deal (OF to Mariners and 3B prospect to Reds) but is all in good fun.

Some good ideas here, but I'm not sure the Mariners would want to downgrade the OF by swapping Haniger for Gurriel, especially as flush with OFs as they will be in 2023 (Kelenic, Rodriguez, Lewis, Trammel, Fraley, Deloach). Reds have no use for Groshans and would need someone who's ready to plug in at a position of need, although they could use Haniger, Brash, and McGuire.
Yeah Jurdson, but somebody has to take Gurriel and Kirk because these guys don't want them. Seattle damn near made the playoffs last season and they're looking to make a couple of moves. I'm assuming that they intend for those moves to improve the current roster and this deal is laughable in that sense. From the Red perspective, they are looking to retool/rebuild I believe so Haniger doesn't fit and McGuire just isn't very good. Defense first catchers aren't hard to find and can be picked up on the waiver wire if needed. Brash is a nice pitching prospect and Groshans is a very nice prospect as well, but he's not likely a SS longterm. The Reds would be much better off dealing directly with Seattle instead of this proposal. This is just a Toronto fan using Cinncy to get Mahle. Ironically Seattle is probably as interested in Mahle as Toronto so why would they assist them in getting him and getting that garbage back while giving up one of their better hitters and prospects?
Yep, I mostly agree except it doesn't look like they're completely tearing down and rebuilding. Hopefully more of a retool in an attempt to be at least competitive in 2022. they'll almost certainly screw that up though.
True Jurdson Seattle acquiring another OFer is not all that likely. I'm fine keeping Gurriel in LF. + bat to ball skills and a great arm. We could be much worse off. He might not have the power that Haniger has but a team that had the 4th highest K% last year could use a guy who doesn't miss much. Kirk would help out here as well. McGuire is a fine back up catcher. Controllable and a lefty hitter. Groshans projects to be a 3B. Could be a short AAA stint away from his MLB debut. Unfortunately that is less likely to happen with the Jays org. As for the Reds being more likely to deal with one team over a 3 way deal is laughable because you can say that about any 3 team trade. The likelihood of a 3 team deal is always low. But they sure are fun to sit down and figure out. Seattle did almost make the playoffs but wait... who was it that finished just above them? With Gurriel playing 119 games in LF
What you said about a 3-team trade is not true. The point of introducing a third team is when two teams' needs and surpluses don't match up. In your case here, the Reds would be better off sending Mahle to Seattle because they can offer a better package and are looking for the same thing you're proposing the Jays would want- a starting pitcher. The Reds have no need at all for Groshans (they have like 4 third basemen on the roster), so they'd match up better with the Mariners directly. If the Mariners needed starting pitching, why would they facilitate a trade of a good starting pitcher to the team that finished ahead of them in the wild card chase? It is all in good fun, though, and best not to take too seriously.
