3This is an expansion of the bad contract for bad contract deal with Grichuk and Didi. Phillies raise the floor on their IF with Biggio and Smith. They also save about 11M in payroll (nearly KK's salary, if they're looking for a CF 😉) Jays add 11M. About the going rate for a quality #5, but Eflin has higher upside than that. Muzzioti gives them a true 4th OF. Toh to philliescts and philliesphan7 for their insights.
I'd love to hear the reason behind the 9 thumbs down for this trade. It's potentially 20 starts and 15 quality starts from Efflin, a 1/2 year of Didi (Stott should be the SS come June/July anyway) and a 4th OF with some potential for 4 years control of a 20/20 second baseman with on base skills, an MLB starting OF, and controllable IF depth who could pair well with Nick Maton til Stott is ready. And if my math is right we end up saving 10M in AAV in 2022.
I would have liked to see comments about the proposal as well, both pro and con. I'm guessing it was the inclusion of Eflin that soured many Phillies fans.
