2Down vote for Oakland. I'm staking my flag on this hill... Oakland needs to extract max value from trading Olson. The A's need to squeeze every last bit of ceiling and years of control they can. Picking up a back-end SP with only 3 years team control ain't max value. Convert Lauer and Mitchell into Ashby and you've got what the A's need. If that means Small needs to be swapped as well because of Milwaukee's pitching depth concerns, that's doable. There are other prospects that would fit in his place.
I could be persuaded to do that. My thing is that I wasn't as high on Ashby as a lot of people, but I've kind of come around when looking more into his advanced metrics. He rates well pretty much everywhere, to the point where I can't really figure out why he gave up as many runs as he did. He doesn't even have a high opponent BABIP. The only thing I'd have to be sure of with him is that he was ready to be a full time starter, as they used him as kind of a swing man. It seems like he definitely has the potential though. I'd be curious what you think of my trade of Olson to the Guardians. I don't get why the like/dislike ratio is bad. I saw another trade that had a positive ratio that had the same guys, except he upped the third piece we got back from the #22 prospect to the #19 (#19 is a teenage OF compared to a AAA SP at 22) and we had to also give up Seth Brown.
