3Jays trade RH bat for RH bat. Bad contract for bad contract. Jays get prospect for getting the "bad'r" contract. Longoria hopefully plays 80 - 100 games at 3B sharing the role with Espinal. Biggio moves back to 2B. Giants add to their OF mix + DH option.
Giants would definitely not go with this trade, honestly. True, the Giants need a RH outfield batter but they would not go after a guy like Grichuk. Grichuk has raw power to hit the ball out of the park but he lacks with plate discipline. Consistently lower than average OBP%, low BB%, and high K%. He has an aggressive approach at the plate but his hit tool is just not enough to grab the attention of the Giants. The Giants would be better sticking to their current roster of RH outfielders, upcoming AAA prospects, and/or seek out free agents rather than make a trade like this for Grichuk. Hard pass.
interesting idea, but imo the Jays would ask for $$ instead of Bednar. Longoria has lost a step over the last couple seasons, but maybe he can continue his offensive resurgence in a park friendly to RHH.
