6This is a really good deal, probably the best the A's can manage. Of course, the A's would have to offload Bassit,Manaea, etc.. to make this happen but with the news of the A's stadium negotiation moving forward in Oakland - they need to build their future team now.
It makes sense to take arms from Miami if you're doing an Olson deal. My question is... what are you hoping to get out of De La Cruz?
marlins say no thanks. lol Athletics would not make the trade if in marlins shoes
That's possible. I will say though that even though everyone always says you can never have too much pitching, the Marlins are pretty much at that point. If you count the two guys in this trade as rotation options for 2022, they could almost fill out two rotations with the guys they have. It's possible that the Marlins say no to giving up Meyer though, for the same reasons I want him.
De La Cruz is one of main piece in marlins plain. if they dont get cf . could be had. the marlins pass up on Austin Martin, SS, Vanderbilt to get Max Meyer, RHP, which most saying he ready to pitch 2022 or 2023 . Cabrera marlins or hight on him . why trade Availablility is low . marlins wont give up two pure good pitchers. in the same trade just for Olson
I'll admit that, for the position players in these Olson deals, I'd prefer infielders, as a guy like De La Cruz is a little redundant on the current A's team. He is younger than the likes of Bolt, Brown, etc. though, and he crushed AAA pitching this season (not the PCL either) and then had a successful first showing in the majors. He could go right into our outfield and allow one of the aforementioned guys to be included in a trade or something. I just couldn't come up with an infielder I liked who had the right trade value. I almost even thought about exchanging him for Garret Cooper to be our DH or replacement 1B
