9Trading Vientos would be a HUGE mistake for the Mets. One that I don't believe that they intend on making.
This makes sense for Oakland, especially if they deal Olson. Vientos would be at 1B by May.
Moving on from Montas, since the As fans just won’t trade him this offseason. That’s fine. Let’s work on Manaea instead.

Thank you for the offer, but I’m good with the league that I am in.
Up vote for Oakland. Vientos is a good get for Manaea. Santos and and Palmer have traits the A's like (size + command and exit velocity, respectively) but require some dreaming.
I guess it’s a question of who you trust more as an SP3, and what is that worth to your season next year? Means costs more, and may provide lower quality performance than Manaea. Montas costs more, and I would prefer Montas, but he seems harder to obtain. Bassitt may be the un-sexy pick, but there is a trade the Mets can make for him that doesn’t involve Santos, just Palmer. Castillo is prohibitively expensive, he’s worth two times the amount of Montas. I would rather trade for both Montas and Manaea than one Castillo. Lopez is injured. Who else can the Mets acquire to make a difference? Who is even available? Also, if the Mets trade McNeil, who plays 2B? You have to have a major league starter to either play 3B or 2B to move McNeil, and the Mets would rather trade both Davis and Cano. The best bet then would be Bryant, but that comes with downsides in costs and length of contract the Mets would not be able to resolve long term.
Why? The Mets are in win now mode, and they are desperate for quality starting pitching. The Mets need an SP3 more than any other team in baseball. I would prefer Montas, but I can’t find a trade that the As will accept since they don’t want Mets prospects. Vientos is a good get for Manaea.
I prefer Bassitt over Manaea & think Vientos straight up is a more then fair & probably the best offer they would get for 1 year of Bassitt or Manaea. No need to include anyone else.
