Also we’re trading a bunch of really good young guys for an elite young guy and bad contracts and Ramiel Tapia. Myers and Tapia suck and aren’t much of a improvement of what the previously had. Abrams is good, but still, why would you trade a bunch of really good young guys for an elite young guy.

I didn’t even see Segura

Seeing that there is a need for Outfield and Middle Infield help in Philly, AND there is some monies that need to be moved in San Diego, AND the Rockies have multiple needs... it would seem that if the Rockies owners would be willing to take on some salary and Philly would be open to moving Bohm after a sophomore slump, that this deal could go through. Myers and his salary would get absorbed in Philly and would make a decent outfield with Tapia and Harper. Philly gets a young Shortstop and top of the order bat, to be ready with Stott for the future, (moving to 2B). Colorado gets a Starting Pitcher who has a live arm, which could service well at altitude, a Shortstop to replace Story and Bohm who could slide across the diamond. San Diego gets a young arm, who is two years from seeing the bigs. A corner outfielder a season or two away from taking over in the Outfield. And Joe, who gives them versatility and a right handed bat at first or the corner outfield spots for the next couple of years.

I think that the trading of Bohm, is a move that allows flexibility to get your your new Middle Infield set for a generation. Myers is a bad contract, but is usable for two years, where he is going to be above average in the field and looking at his metrics (See baseball savant), puts him in the order of Randy Arozaerna in terms of production (almost identical), but playing his games in the Marine layer at San Diego. Tapia, is someone outside of Colorado, that is largely an unknown commodity. Whether you want to make him a 4th OF, or a starter against Righties, he plays above average defense, makes contact and avoids strike outs. Seeing that there is basically two OF's on the 40 man roster, it seemed to be an easy, cheap option. However, I can understand the trepidation in terms of trading Bohm, Rojas and Abel. But, let's forecast this out. Abrams seems to be a .300/.360/.480 player with 20 HR/40 Steals. How would that compare to Bohm's .250/.300/.450 (Being kind in figuring out MLB pitching again), Rojas destined .250/.290/.400 (as all reports is that he doesn't take pitches well) and Abel seems like a solid #2 starter in his destiny. If I was the GM and had a chance at Abrams, I'd certainly be willing to set the middle of my defense for a decade, knowing that our system is stacked with arms ready to make the jump.
