3This seems pretty comparable to what the A’s got from the Mets for Bassitt. Sweeney seems very unlikely to stay at short, probably headed for a corner position. Wesneski gives Oakland another young arm that’s almost Major League ready, a definite need given the frailty of Puk, Kap, and Jeffries.
It's possible, given the way the A's have almost fetishized the 1st round of the 2021 draft. I'd probably go Randy Vasquez+JP Sears (5.7 TV) to give Oakland an arm ready to audition for the Show, especially since Sweeney is going to be a few years out.
Wesneski has already reached AAA. I don't think Sears is substantially ahead of him. That said, I like Vasquez and wouldn't be opposed to your tweak. For me, Sweeney's the main piece. His bat is his carrying tool, his positional home is TBD, and the A's need to replace the pop lost with the Olson/ Chapman deals. Fangrapgs thinks his bat could carry him through the minors quickly. He should begin the year at A+
