IF we're willing to grant the Twins' ability to take on the Hoz contract - no small assumption - this is at least an interesting conversation. The Twins haven't had a true ace since the days of Johan, and they don't have the prospect clout to get one like Woodruff. Here, the Brewers land two elite prospects, another top-100, and a minor salary dump, the Padres unload the Hoz contract and shore up their outfield, and the Twins land the big fish.

Horrendous deal for the Brewers. They already have 5 OFs and don't need Kirilloff. He projects to be a .250's/.315 guy. Abrams and Balazovic would be in the minors and no help. Plus the Brewers have a very good, young SS in Adames. Sano Ks at an alarming 35-40% rate and the Brewers would have no use for him. They already are one of the worst strikeout teams in MLB and they don't want another high whiff guy in Sano. This is nowhere close to what the Brewers would want if they traded Woodruff.

^ This is fair. I'm mostly looking from a Twins POV - it does make sense for them, and makes a fair amount of sense for the Padres, too, but I see what you're saying for the Brewers, especially for a team that's projected for 89 wins in the NL Central. (Though I don't for a second accept the notion that Kirilloff is set to be a .250/.315 hitter. :)

treverickson: I looked at every projection I could find and that's about the average I came up with. Maybe there are some out there that project him better, but I couldn't find them. The highest AVG. projection I found was .256 and the lowest was .248. For OBP .319 was the highest and .314 the lowest. No matter for the Brewers because they already have Yelich-McCutchen-Renfroe at the corner positions.
