2Robles .233/.303/.301 doesn't improve the Brewers in any way. They give up next to nothing, but Robles is in arby and Milwaukee doesn't need another arby guy when they already are overloaded with arby eligible players.
I personally think that a trade for Robles is the Brewers most likely CF transaction. This is why... On the surface, Robles overall line of .233/.303/.301/.604, wRC+ of 72 isn't enough to crack the Brewers lineup. Taylor is better than that. However, Taylor hasn't hit well against lefties this year (.186/.273/.322/.595, wRC+ 67) and Robles has crushed them to a stat line of .356/.406/.458/.864, wRC+ 143. On top of that robust stat line against lefties, Robles has continued to play elite defense in CF. The cost to acquire Robles isn't prohibitive. Cam Robinson, the Brewers #26 prospect according to MLB Pipeline and the unranked TJ Shook are certainly easy to part with for a MLB platoon player with team control. Yes, it would add another arb eligible player to the Brewers roster, but as a platoon player, he likely wouldn't be getting any ridiculous paydays. With Taylor healthy and Robles on the roster the Brewers CF platoon would look like this: Taylor versus righties: .244/.279/.462/.740, wRC+ 102 Robles versus lefties: .356/.406/.458/.864, wRC+ 143 If the Brewers can't land a bonafide full-time CF, they should seriously look at building this platoon on the cheap.
