2IMO the Brewers jump at this trade. I'm not sure Texas would be so enthusiastic though.
I'm not sure the Brewers jump at the trade necessarily, but it makes sense. Garcia isn't arb eligible until 2024 and won't be a free agent until 2027. Unfortunately, he's a late bloomer. He's almost 30 already and likely won't produce at a high level through the duration of his club control. That might be one reason the Rangers try to cash in now. The Brewers giving up their #1 prospect (Sal Frelick) might be enough to entice the Rangers. Adding in their #14 prospect Antoine Kelly who is having a monster year and then #22 Alec Bettinger who is major league ready and the Rangers just might go for it. Garcia is an immediate upgrade over Taylor, but he comes with some of the same weaknesses as Taylor too. Garcia has a lot of swing and miss in his game and also doesn't hit lefties well. This deal could work, but we'll see what the Brewers are willing to give up to push their team over the line.
