3The Cubs would say yes if you swapped Hancock or Macko for Stoudt preferably Hancock
Wanted to find the mariners an answer for the back of their rotation as well as a bat in one stop without blowing the farm or limiting their other moves. Happ is expensive but comes with another year of control and is the type of versatile player defensively the M's seem to go after. He hasn't played second in a few years but can slot in there or on the corners infield or out field easy enough. The cubs get a player in Taylor Tramell who has been emerging in the opportunities he's had this year but has had a crowded outfield and some bad injury luck keep him from cementing his place on the field along with the M's number 6, 10, and 21 prospects.
I think Hancock would be a sticking point for the M's, his value in the market is way down right now but they still see him as a potential real mlb starter or even an Ace, could see Macko but technically Stoudt is a higher ranking prospect according to MLB's ranking of the M's prospects.
