1I'd much rather create a trade that includes Patrick Corbin but the website won't allow it. What I'm trying to do here is unload Yelich's bad contract. He'll never be the same again. I think all pragmatic Brewers fans realize this. Yelich's contract is punitive with back loaded years. Attanasio has shown that he is too cheap to do something like this trade but, nonetheless, it is necessary. Here's why I Attanasio would not sign off on a deal like this: * Impending investment in Norwich City *AmFam field investments (of which I'm sure he'll lay that at the taxpayers feet but he'll need to pay some) * Reticence to take on larger impending contracts (see Hader) Now, on to why it makes sense: 1. Controllable pitching and catching talent for the Brewers for a long time. Washington has enough controllable talent at this time. What they need is to fill some holes with more established big league talent with some major league power (Huira and Urias). This ties in with #3. 2. The Brewers can't afford to pay their Big 3 pitching over the long term. Therefore, someone needs to go. Woodruff has had some hand/nerve issues. Who knows if this gets worse. Even though I love Woody, sell high. 3. New Washington owner needs to make somewhat of a splash. Huira can play 1B or DH. They have a hole there because of the Bell trade. They need a new ACE. Woodruff gives them that. Yelich and Urias give them some big league talent. Urias provides INF flexibility with some power.
