3A little change of scenery for some veterans who are owed big money. For the Reds yes they are taking on more money and years and maybe this is a pipe dream but they should move on from Moustakas and I have a bad feeling they won’t just release him. The Reds take on more money which shouldn’t be an issue and bring in two vets who could help younger pitchers in the rotation and bullpen with their experience, if nothing else. They also bring in a legit backup catcher in Kelly, who is movable because of Varsho. The cash may or may not be part of the deal but I included it to balance out the numbers. For the Diamondbacks they move money they can use elsewhere and bring in some younger pitchers and Garcia could be backup catcher if needed.
Taking on more money "shouldn't be an issue"...? Bob Castellini makes Scrooge look like George Steinbrenner. Carson Kelly is the only player I like in this deal for the Reds.

Yeah the money shouldn’t be an issue but I am sure that Scrooge Castellini would not do this. I just wanted to work out what I would do if it were up to me. I would want to compete next year so in a series of moves I added Mullins, Happ and some veteran pitchers, while moving on from Moustakas. I would like Bumgarner and Melancon on this team way more than Moustakas next year. The way I figure it as my project looks like this right now….. C - Stephenson 1B - Votto 2B - India SS - Barrero (Farmer as backup) 3B - Steer LF - Happ CF - Mullins RF - Fraley Bench - Carson Kelly, Aquino & Farmer I feel like De La Cruz is not that far off and could take over for Barrero if needed or 3B if Barrero figured things out at the plate then Steer could move around or go to 1B with Votto becoming the DH. The Rotation would be Greene, Lodolo, Ashcraft, Bumgarner with many options for the last spot like Williamson or Stoudt. I think Bumgarner could move to the pen as a fall back if needed. In the pen we would have Alexis, Antone, Sims, Melancon, Sanmartin and Santillan so far. I planned to continue this exercise and recap it all when I was done.
