The Reds are not going to move their two best pure SS prospects (Arroyo and Cabrera).

The Reds will fill their OF void with inexpensive FA's. They will not trade for a Mullins that will be too expensive before they are ready to contend again. They have a wealth of SS prospects, not all of them will play SS in the Show. They will move to the OF. I am thinking possibly Marte, De La Cruz, maybe McLain, if he does not play 2B.

Yeah I am sure that is what will happen but I just wanted to work out what I would do if it were up to me. I would want to compete next year so in a series of moves I added Mullins, Happ and some veteran pitchers, while moving on from Moustakas. I would be trying to win next year and Arroyo and Cabrera are much further away to helping. They do have a wealth of SS prospects and some will need to move but between De La Cruz, Marte, McLain, Encarnacion-Strand and I am sure I am forgetting a name or two we are in great shape even after this hypothetical trade. The way I figure it as my project looks right now….. C - Stephenson 1B - Votto 2B - India SS - Barrero (Farmer as backup) 3B - Steer LF - Happ CF - Mullins RF - Fraley Bench - Carson Kelly, Aquino & Farmer I feel like De La Cruz is not that far off and could take over for Barrero if needed or 3B if Barrero figured things out at the plate then Steer could move around or go to 1B with Votto becoming the DH. The Rotation would be Greene, Lodolo, Ashcraft, Bumgarner with many options for the last spot like Williamson or Stoudt. I think Bumgarner could move to the pen as a fall back if needed. In the pen we would have Alexis, Antone, Sims, Melancon, Sanmartin and Santillan so far. I planned to continue this exercise and recap it all when I was done.
