8Great package for the Brewers
Once again. Love this trade as a Mets fan. Have to give to get. Jett Williams is blocked and Sproat is good but probably projects to be more of a 3/4 which the Mets currently have PLENTY of.
I think it's a good deal for both teams. Peralta, like any decent trade chip in this relatively seller-devoid market, was always going to command an on-paper overpay of some sort but this is far from egregious.
BIG TOBIAS MEYERS TRADE!!
This trade works for both teams. Mets get their TOR at a discount to FMV prices and a nice bulk pitcher who can fill a number of roles on a team with several young pitchers. I’d like this trade a lot more if the Mets extended Peralta, but they seem allergic to deals going longer than 3 years. The Brewers get younger and cheaper but also gain 2 high quality potential starters for the future. Good trade for all.
If there is meaningful debate over who got the best end of the deal… then it was a fair trade.
If context can be added, Peralta as one of the few TOR type pitchers available dictates he gets a High Value and Williams, having had two lackluster seasons due to injury brings him to the low value, the overall delta is just 1.9 in value, which is right within a fair trade value prognosis.
Mets did fine on trade. 2 pitchers for 2026 helps them. Myers is better than value indicated.
