Why did Yandy just take a 40% haircut? Not that it matters, I think the Rays are done trading until the deadline. Trading Yandy for $7MM seems like the Rays are just giving away a valuable asset, particularly given the type of prospects in this trade (blah). With Alonso signing for $30MM AAV over 5 years and any concern about Yandy’s 2027 regression being mitigated by the ever more likely possibility of a lockout. Yandy should have more trade value, not less.
What is Cleveland going to do with Stephenson? They will not be kicking Naylor to the curb anytime soon and they already have 3 1B.
To add to the comments what are the Reds going to do for a starting catcher? What Reds really need is a power hitting outfielder. The infield is mostly set.
Like Cleveland doesn't lose this deal, but with Fry, its hard to see how Stephenson fits...
