4I'm intrigued as an A's fan but... why would the Yankees do this?
Cashman has noted on numerous occasions that the Yankees’ lefty-heavy lineup being a cause for concern/area to address. Wells is a solid catcher - both offensively and defensively - but he’s another lefty. Swapping him for a solid righty who doesn’t have the same defensive upside (framing in particular) still addresses a core concern with a suitable replacement.
That's an interesting take. Let's give this an upvote. I'm playing around with a Bah Humbug post-Christmas trade splurge where John Fisher demands that ayone making more than 6-figures needs to go and this would give the A's a pre-arb starting Catcher.
Would the Yankees have any interest in another go with Severino?
