8I like this for all three teams. Well done.
💁🏼♀️ I’m skeptical that Baltimore would trade for 1yr of Peralta, I don’t think they’re built for a title run in ‘26 but you never know how a season can play itself out. I suppose they could attach the QO to him next off season…possibly even get him extended. And I’m also skeptical that the Marlins would be interested in trading away 3yrs of SP Cabrera for what looks to be a failing/struggling 1B Mayo. Plus Catching depth is nice to add but I don’t think it’s a real need so Bodine might be a questionable target, and it was Baltimore’s 2025 pick (30th overall) and could end up being the overall prize of the 3 team deal so Baltimore may be hesitant to include him.
They did it for Burnes, and gave up a package similar to this one in that deal, so I think it's reasonable.
Do you think they feel it worked out for them?
I don't think they have any regrets whatsoever.
And I think Peralta is a step below Burnes. I think Peralta is very good — but volatile. When he’s on, he’s a #1/#2 caliber starter. But he has: inconsistent command, high-effort delivery & past shoulder/elbow flags. He’s not a “bankable ace”. Burnes I feel was at that time.
Mayo has not even been afforded the chance to fail yet. He’d get that in a homecoming to South Florida just like with Norby and Stowers. Bodine is a solid hedge for them against the defensive development of Ramirez and Hicks, at least one of whom could move to 1B/DH while Mack/Bodine catch. Meanwhile for Milwaukee, they get a pitcher with similar upside to Peralta but with more control. This works out well all around.
Agree with all your points. I gave it 👍👍👍. But I stand by my skepticism.
