This trade is part of a series of trades that I would make if I was in full control of the Reds and I was aiming to compete in 2023. First, I managed to move on from Moustakas acquiring veteran pitchers and a legit backup Catcher. Then, a pair of good OF bats in Happ and Mullins and a good defensive 1B and some relievers. Here is what my 2023 Reds look like going into spring training. Lineup 1. Cedric Mullins - CF 2. Jonathan India - 2B 3. Joey Votto - DH 4. Tyler Stephenson - C 5. Ian Happ - LF 6. Christian Walker - 1B 7. Jake Fraley - RF 8. Spencer Steer - 3B 9. Jose Barrero - SS Bench would be Carson Kelly, Alejo Lopez, Kyle Farmer, Stuart Fairchild and Aristides Aquino. I feel like De La Cruz is not that far off and could take over for Barrero if needed or 3B if Barrero figured things out at the plate then Steer could move around the field in that best case scenario. In the meantime Kyle Farmer is there if Barrero does not figure it out. The Rotation 1. Hunter Greene 2. Nick Lodolo 3. Graham Ashcraft 4. Madison Bumgarner 5. Brandon Williamson There are many options for the last spot like Levi Stoudt, Justin Dunn, Conner Overton, Luis Cessa and Connor Phillips but I went with the highest ceiling in Brandon Williamson. Also I think Bumgarner could move to the pen as a fall back if needed. In the Bullpen 1. Scott Barlow 2. Alexis Diaz 3. Tejay Antone 4. Lucas Sims 5. Mark Melancon 6. Joe Mantiply 7. Reiver Sanmartin 8. Tony Santillan They would have many depth options like Brault, Fernando Cruz, Buck Farmer, Hoffman, Cessa, Hendrix, Kuhnel, Duarte and Moreta. Finally as part of the recap I wanted to dive into the payroll. Which came out to $105-$120 million in both the next 2 years. Ok let me hear it I love hearing the feedback.
