2💁🏼♀️ From MLBTR chat; SF has about $168MM committed to next year’s payroll, and their tax number is $54MM under the threshold. They can add to their roster in a ton of ways just by spending some money, rather than trading Eldridge. 👎
They’re not mutually exclusive for me. Eldridge is blocked by Devers. And the split time with 1B and DH doesn’t really work as they’re both lefties and Devers is an elite hitter anyways. I’d trade Eldridge to fill these two huge holes and Giants should be exceeding the first salary threshold. No excuse to be the 5th most valuable team with 15th largest payroll. Giants should be out spending TOR and SD. They should be right there with Philly for 4-6th biggest payroll every year
