1I like this trade for the Rays. Losing Yandy’s bat in 2026 will hurt but it also takes the risk of 2027 off the table (ie: Yandy’s contract includes a 2027 vesting option in his age 36 season). Estrada is a huge improvement to Fairbanks, who is declining and much more expensive than Estrada, and the Rays can weather the loss of Pep. Plus, flipping a high leverage reliever at next year’s deadline should yield a better return than flipping a mid-rotation SP, should the Rays elect to do so. I also really like the potential of Mayfield, who would fill a big need in the Rays system as a lefty starter.
