1I see the logic in this trade for the Rays. Give up on Baz and swap him for a lower ceiling but potentially safer choice in Povich (while picking up a year of control), while adding Bateman for free. Well, as the State Farm commercial says, the Rays shouldn’t settle for Bateman (and Povich) when they could have Batman (Baz). Rays stick with Baz and hope for a 2026 breakout following his first healthy season in the Majors.
