5Rays pass. No interest in Vargas at all and only a passing interest in Morabito. Both could be AAAA players.
What do you think TB would want for Diaz?
It’s a hard question to answer because at his current production his trade value should be significantly higher (plus he’s a fan favorite in Tampa Bay, which the new owners will be mindful of), but he is also 34 years old and his play in the field has declined to the point where he should be a DH. If the Rays trade him, I suspect it will take a much greater trade package than what BTV says he’s worth, with an actual prospect as the headliner and not just depth and AAAA prospects. There’s risk in keeping him though, because his deal includes a vesting option for 2027 when he’s 36 years old; although the Rays may be banking on getting one more good year from him and then having his vesting option (if it vests) voided by the lockout year in 2027.

That is fair. I would propose to swap out Santucci for Zach Thornton. His BTV surplus is 1.8 compared to Santucci's 4.3, but he had a spectacular year. 1.98 ERA and 0.812 WHIP in 72 innings, more than 5 innings per start. Also struck out 9.7 per 9 innings. He missed the 2nd half of the season due to an oblique injury, so not directly arm related. If Lantigua comes out of the 2026 gate hot in A ball, he'll vault into that top 150 group of prospects
