From the Braves perspective: - The Braves for many years have needed quality at SS, and Gunnar represents a controllable superstar that can fill that void while some of their SS prospects develop. Eventually in a couple of years they could shift him to 2B if they have an heir apparent develop for SS and Ozzie's at the end of his club options. - Adley is a strong defensive catcher who's had some challenges staying healthy, however the Braves are a team who've shown the ability to rebuild some struggling hitters to their peak performance and possibly squeeze some surplus. Orioles perspective: - Bring in a young hitter that can pair with Basallo behind the plate, while also adding two promising young arms to a team in need of some starting pitching depth. Especially young pitching with high upside.
