Rays have dicked around long enough. time to make a move. Halvorsen is essentially the hardest thrower in the world. He doesn't get hit hard, and produces a ton of whiffs. If you don't want to see the Rays pitching lab get a hold of this guy for the next 5 years, you are insane. He's essentially a RH Mason Montgomery to me, albeit with better secondaries, but just as wild. Jake Bird is a well above average reliever with an arm slot that would pair nicely with many Rays relievers, as they like to alternate reliever arm slots. The Rockies raid the Rays talent without results upper tier list, with both More and Lesko having star power peripherals, and Nichols and and Kinney are both near sure fire MLBers, albeit without upper tier athletic ability. the Rckies do well, the Rays do well.

I would love to see the Rays target Bird. Halvorsen throws hard, but he's having a bad season. Maybe the Rays can fix him in August before the playoffs race really kicks in. I don't mind acquiring him, but I don't care if he's excluded from the deal either.
