3And then Zack Littell returns to Earth…
💁🏼♀️ Rays just gave Diaz an extension in March, it would seem unlikely they move him. Tibbs was just acquired in a trade, he’s not being flipped. 👎👎
The Yandy extension was more player goodwill than anything though. They exercised a team option for 2026 early and tacked on another team option. For the aging Diaz, it provided a little more peace of mind knowing he had a 2 year deal at the start of the 2025 season, and the team option for 2027... well, I see that as funny money given Yandy's age, early season struggles the past 2 years, and the likelihood of a lockout in 2027. In short, I don't think the extension will keep the Rays from trading Yandy (or at least I don't think it should); however, I can't see the Rays trading Yandy to a division rival. They are more likely to move him to the Mariners or Astros in my opinion than the Red Sox.
