2Cards need pitching, McClanahan is coming back from a triceps injury & has only just started a rehab assignment, but is a really good SP, FA in '28. Gorman seems to have found a stroke and has 30 HR potential, FA '29. Crooks is the best among 4 excellent C prospects & the most MLB ready for the Cards. Fernandez has electric stuff, if any organization can harness it, the Rays can.
I would say there is little to no chance the Rays even consider trading McClanny at this valuation, and there is certainly no chance that this trade package works for them. Gorman is not a good player. His defense is still not good, even if it is no longer embarrassingly bad, and his bat is still below 100 wRC+. Crooks is a good catching prospect but I don’t think he’s the best the Cardinals have to offer. Fernandez is ok I guess but he isn’t a needle mover for McClanny.
