3The A's should at least listen on Mason Miller. Melton is an advanced arm with the bigger body/fastball traits the A's have aimed to acquire. Briceno becomes the next Catcher of the Future and might time out better (to replace Langeliers) than my personal fave Thayron Lirzano. And I might as well ask for the Comp pick while I still can!
Scott Harris absolutely loves his prospects and his draft picks. He picked McGonigle at #37 the last time he had a comp pick this high and I think that there is about a 0% chance that he trades a #34 pick this next week. My trade suggestion earlier had Liranzo to the A's instead of Briceno because Liranzo is going to stick behind the plate and is a much better catcher than Briceno. Briceno will probably end up at 1st base when he is ready for his call up and the A's already have Soderstrom and Kurtz at that position. I see Briceno as the possible replacement for Torkelson at 1st in Detroit. Melton does have a high power arsenal that the Tigers just might tap for a call up later this year if he is not dealt or injured. He has a lot of upside. I still included Jung as I don't see the A's with a LHH on the infield besides Kurtz. He is working through a batting stance change right now in AAA so it may take him a couple of months to see the results with that, but he does have good power potential and played a very good defensive 3rd base early in Detroit this year. My trade included Severino, but I really don't know if Harris would be interested in that experiment and with Severino, I just included Perkins to offset the value there instead of cash. I also included Susac to backfill for the loss of Liranzo because the Tigers will probably lose Rogers as a BU catcher at the end of 2026. That would set the system up at catcher until possibly the arrival of Jimenez in @ 4 years.
Yeah, in a post-Draft world I probably ask for Hamm in place of the Comp pick. I'm out on Jung; from what I've read his early defensive improvement in Detroit didn't stick in Toledo. An extra LH bat would be nice but a better-than-average glove is a must and I just don't believe that's Jung. I would absolutely take Liranzo in place of Briceno. Including Susac isn't out of the question. Moving Severino will require Fisher money. Luckily, a lot of teams need pitching!
