3Trading an All Star middle infielder w/ 2 years of Arb left needs 2 really high prospects. Cunningham is certainly one, but Flores? The Cards have a long queue of C prospects. Sub Arias and this would look a lot more tempting.
Oh there is absolutely no doubt trading for low prospects is a crap shoot & you may well be right but that trade makes Yankees ALEast favs till someone in a Sox uni finds their chi.
Fair enough. My first look at that group of Yankees Minor Leaguers was that Arias was really struggling in A ball, and he was in A ball all of 2024. His BB% was already good and improving but his K% is settling at around 30%, which seems too high, while also slashing .157/.309/.246. He is still only 20 for most of 2025, so probably still early to rule him out so yeah it makes sense to sweeten the deal more by adding him.
