2For the Red Sox in ‘26 I think Story opts in and Bregman opts out. This looks like the path the Red Sox are on to me. Lineup; C Carlos Narvaez, 1B Acquisition/RomyGonzalez/NickSogard/TristianCasas (IL), 2B Trevor Story, 3B Kristian Campbell, SS Marcelo Mayer, LF Roman Anthony, CF Jarren Duran, RF Wilyer Abreu, DH Rafael Devers, Bench; C Connor Wong, Utl Ceddanne Rafaela, IF David Hamilton, OF Masataka Yoshida.
I agree with Bregman opting out and signing with the Tigers, and Story opting in. But Campbell definitely will not be starting at 3rd. He doesn’t have the arm, hasn’t even graded well at second, and only has handful of starts in the minors there. So it’ll probably be Devers, Mayer, Romy, or Story. They can also go out and sign Bo Bichette or make a trade. I do like Campbell at 1st base long term though and potentially trading Casas. Also I’d prefer Abreu in CF and Duran in RF.
