I can’t see the Pirates trading Skenes, but if they were to do so, I imagine they’d want a bunch of guys in return knocking on the door. This trade gives the Pirates a starting CF or COF on day one (Pages), a SP sometime next year (Ferris) to add to a good, young rotation, and a power hitting 1B (Isaac) ready late this year or sometime next year. On top of that, the Pirates get a far off CF prospect and a high draft pick to do what they want. Of course, the Pirates can probably do just as well by trading Skenes next year, assuming he remains healthy of course. For the Dodgers, they get one of the best SP in baseball on a rookie deal with 5 years of remaining control. What an incredible pitching staff they would have. For the Rays, they opt to trade from a position of abundance (lefty 1B/DH) to shore up an area of arguable need (COF).
