Not sure how long teams must wait to trade a FA signee like Turner, but this deal wouldn't be made for a while anyway. Sandy needs to show that he can still pitch effectively coming off surgery. Plus, Amaya needs to keep up his pace for it to be an equal return. Neither Turner or Higgy have shown much. Turner, never a hard swinger, looks done. But Rangers have a new hitting coach, and maybe they think that he's got something left. Higgy replaces Amaya. Plus, Cubs may need to sweeten the pot later on. Just laying the ground work for a trade, as they say.
