3would only be possible if Busch can play the outfield, on MLB.com it says he can so i am rolling with him being able to play left field.
Thumbs down 👎 Buehler had Tommy John surgery on August 23 and while the team didn’t mention a timeline, it seems safe to say Buehler won’t pitch in a game at the major league level again until 2024. At that point he will have only 1 year of team control left. Plus the Red Sox would have to pay him $8m (mlbtr estimated arb value for ‘23) to re hab. I don’t think that’s a good fit for the Red Sox. Busch fits best defensively at first base (his primary position in college at North Carolina), his speed and arm are still fringy but is an adequate defender at 2B. I don’t think he’s a fit for the Red Sox even if he was to only play home games in LF. And the Sox love Story at 2B especially with the elimination of the shifts and with his injury history & concern he is not moving to SS.
No chance the Dodgers trade Buehler now, especially with his value so low. I think we're gonna hold on to him and try to extend him long term.
