I'm surprised to see you include Martin but I really like this trade and would be happy with it if I was TB.

I like Martin but the Rays’ Farm is overflowing with top pitching prospects right now. Giving up Martin gets the deal done.

If the Mets want Vladdy, they're going to have to pay up for him, both in trade cost and eventually in salary. This trade should get Vladdy to NYC, but Toronto is saying they want a better package for Vladdy than what the Padres got for Soto. If true (and Toronto holds to that position), Vladdy ain't going anywhere because that's an insane expectation. If the Blue Jays can't sign Vladdy to an extension, and it's looking like they can't, then swapping him for a really good OF prospect (and former 1st rounder), a pitching prospect with #1-3 potential, and a solid Major League pitcher who can round out the Blue Jays' rotation for 2025 and be flipped later in the year, should interest the Blue Jays. This is a quality not quantity trade. For the Mets, they give up their 2nd best pitching prospect, arguably their best outfield prospect, a defense first SS and a good but far away catching prospect to land one of the premier bats in baseball. They do this trade to ensure their investment in Soto works out. Maybe they even add another player to the trade to sweeten the pot. Mets are in win-now mode and have the cash to fill holes through free agency if need be. No one in their Farm should be off limits. For the Rays, they have a blackhole at SS for the next 1-2 years (until C.Williams arrives) and have had a hole at catcher for the majority of their existence. Giving up their 6th starter and a solid pitching prospect who has slipped in the organizational rankings after the influx of talent from last year's deadline trades is a relatively painless way to fix a current hole and help fill a future hole.
