3I do not know why Jones is listed as a firstbaseman. The vast majority of his games in the minors were at 3b; in the majors in the OF. I often find this incorrect position assignment on this forum. Jones plays LF in Cincy. Marte is in AAA perfecting his game to replace McMahon. Diaz becomes the closer in Denver. Peralta provides quality depth in Cincy BP. He can face his brother Freddy (Mil).
Positions for younger players are usually based on where prospect evaluators seem them ultimately ending up, so in this case Jones was projected to end up at 1B. That said, you're right that it (and a few others) can stand to be updated after some MLB experience kicks in. We'll update Jones accordingly.
