Nats need a young 3rd baseman. No better bounce back candidate than Mead. The Rays don't need Mead, and I really don't see any playing time for him outside of a weak side platoon between 2b and DH, giving Lowe and Aranda occasional days off. The Rays swap him for a young 3rd round catcher that doesn't need protected for 3 years, and a potential lights out reliever.
