3I like the value on both ends of this, but it only makes one team (the Dodgers) better in 2025. Why are the Twins waving the white flag this year? They're the betting favorites to win the division.
Twins have massive payroll issues and Duran is hitting arb now. The Twins have a history of moving bullpen guys (Taylor Rogers) and they never spend any money on their bullpen
You're right about the Twins not liking to spend on the 'pen, but the point is, if they're going to trade Duran, they're going to want something in the return that helps now, not just solely in the future. Also, the payroll issues aren't exactly "massive." Self-imposed, yes. Massive, no. Ten million is what the owner mandated they need to shed, and punting on 2025 isn't part of the mandate.
