4This is the worst trade I've seen on here. This is not the rumored ask for Tucker. Shaw is untouchable, and would be the person that took over 3b if Paredes was traded. Do you put any thought into this before you put these together? Hey Cubs, give up two of your best offensive players, and anyone who can play 3b in 2025, so you can have a RF and no DH.
Would it be at all realistic if the cubs were able to negotiate an extension as part of the deal. Szym (from ZIPS!) threw out 7/191, and I think it was starting in 2026. Might that be worth everything going to Houston?
There is always confusion when rumors start leaking to the press. It's part of the negotiation process that teams will discuss multiple names, but that doesn't mean that's the exact package. They're just exploring options. I've seen these names reported, but don't for a second think all of them would be included in a realistic package. My read of the intent behind this particular proposal was to show that it's very unrealistic to assume all these names would be included, because the value gap would be too large.
I would expect people to propose real trades that all parties would benefit from, not one-sided pipe dreams. Also, of course the Astros like all of those players, who wouldn't? That doesn't mean the Cubs go "oh you like those guys, here, have them all". I get throwing things against the wall, but if you're posting it, it should have some semblance of reality.
